Covenant Law is a boutique legal practice focused on religious organizations, nonprofits, and business clients.
We counsel and advocate for our clients on issues of religious freedom, government accountability, free speech, and other matters of public interest. We also serve as outside general counsel for organizations, helping them accomplish their missions, manage risk, and comply with the law.
My primary practice is serving religious institutions in Colorado and across the country both as outside general counsel and as specialized First Amendment counsel.
My work spans corporate and ecclesiastical governance, employment, contracts, data privacy and technology, intellectual property, disputes and litigation, and crisis communications. I offer strategic counsel to institutions seeking to protect their religious identities, exercise their faith, and access public benefits on equal footing. I help organizations navigate legal challenges as they seek to accomplish their unique missions and promote the common good. I also regularly file amicus briefs at the U.S. Supreme Court and in federal appeals courts around the country, giving my clients a voice in the most important religious liberty issues of the day.
I have a particular interest in Christian higher education, and I serve on the Executive Committee of the Religious Liberty Legal Council, part of the American Council on Education's Commission on Faith-Based Colleges and Universities.
Before founding Covenant Law, I served first at a large law firm and then at a small firm I helped co-found. As a former adjunct professor at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, I have taught constitutional law and the First Amendment to undergraduates, many of whom have gone on to law school and careers in law. I'm actively involved with family, church, and the Colorado Springs community, and I serve on the board of the Nicaea Study Center, which seeks to engage the vast corpus of the Christian intellectual tradition and help learners harmonize intellectual growth with spiritual formation.
I graduated cum laude and Order of the Coif from Georgetown University Law Center in 2011 and spent the next year clerking for Hon. Jerome A. Holmes, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. I have an MA in international affairs from Texas A&M University and a BS in mathematics from Oral Roberts University.
